Pop/chart music magazines;

Rolling stone

House styles;
Billboard- The house style of Billboard is very colourful which reflects the pop industry. It shows shots of current artists in the pop charts and sometimes the cover stars hide the mast head of the magazine as its recognisable without all of it showing. The picture is a full shot which is uncommon for most magazines however they could have done this to get in the cover stars ‘costume’ as this would spark interest. Also Gaga isn’t looking directly at the camera, which suggests that something other than the buyer is important which makes the reader want to find out what it is.
Q magazine- Q magazines house style has cover stars from the same pop genre that Billboard do. However the colours aren’t the same they’re more dark and simpler, so this could appeal to a wider slightly older audience. The image on Q magazine is a bit larger than a mid-shot but it’s more focused on the cover stars face and body which could create sex appeal and arouse interest in the buyers mind. Here Gaga is looking directly at the camera (direct mode of address)/ reader which make us feel like she’s looking directly at you so you could feel a personal relationship with the cover star.
Rolling stone- Rolling stone’s magazine changes it’s lay out and covers depending on who the cover star is. The cover star is always known within the pop industry. The master heads font always stays the same which is symbolic for readers as they know straight away which magazine it will be. The shot for the rolling stone magazine is a mid-shot which fits in exactly what the publishers want us to see. Again bare flesh is exposed which creates sex appeal and Gaga’s looking away from the camera so it sparks the readers interest into what she’s looking at so they’ll want to buy it.
